Diploma of Children's Services Early Childhood Education & Care
Monday - Friday
My name is Jessica, but most know me as Jess.
I have been part of St. Andrews Community Preschool since 2009 and the Director of the Preschool for the past 5 years.
Over my 13 years in this profession I have had the opportunity to work in community-based services, long day cares and spent time over in the USA as an Au pair to 4 children.
One of my passions is in teaching children about their environment and the impact we can have on it, as they are the future of this world. My other passion is languages, I am currently studying Auslan and my desire is to become fluent and be able to communicate and work alongside with the Deaf community and in turn share and educate my love and passion with the children I care for.
To me there is no bigger reward than watching a child thrive in their environment, persist with challenges they are faced with and in the end, achieve great things.

My name is Kylie and I have a Bachelor of Education, Early Childhood, which I obtained in 1993 from the University of Western Sydney. Over the past 26 years I have managed and worked within long day care and preschool services, with my passion being for the 3-5 year old age group. I began working in the Early Childhood sector in the Blue Mountains and after getting married and moving to Newcastle in 2010, I have continued to work in Preschool’s and Joined St.Andrews Community Preschool in 2015.
I love being a part of the children’s learning and growth and I believe that by providing a warm, caring, respectful, and nurturing environment the children will thrive and develop to the best of their ability. Each year I look forward to building relationships with the children and families that come in to my care and I am blessed to be working in a Preschool that allows me to do that.
Bachelor of Early Childhood Education & Care
Tuesday & Thursday
My name is Sophie and I have a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care which I obtained in 2018. I have over 8 years’ experience in early childhood, having worked in both long day care and preschool. In 2013 I became a part of the team at St.Andrews Community Preschool and have enjoyed working in such a small community preschool.
I am forever wanting to learn new skills and develop my knowledge and for this reason have just started my Master of Indigenous Education. I am passionate about providing inclusive education for all children, and developing their learning and skills through different teaching models and approaches. I believe the outdoor environment and providing a play-based program plays a significant role in children’s development and growth, and I am looking forward to incorporating my love for both with the children at our centre.

Cert 3 in Children's Services
Currently on Leave
My name is Leone and I believe that each child is an individual. I will value and develop each child’s strengths, interests, abilities and knowledge.
I understand that children learn through play and will provide opportunities for them to explore, create and imagine.
I will celebrate the benefits of diversity with each individual child and enable them to acknowledge difference.
Certificate 3 Children's Services
My name is Claire and I currently have a certificate III in Children’s Services, which I obtained in 2008. I have been in the Early Childhood Sector for over 10 years while also becoming a mum of two little girls. Helayna is now 10 years old and Sadie is 7 years old.
My husband and I love to travel and since having children we moved up to Townsville for a few years to explore North Queensland. We headed back to Newcastle to settle our girls into school and be closer to family. It’s important to me that I educate our children to all parts of Australian culture but also the many amazing cultures from around the world. I believe it is my job as a parent and educator to celebrate the benefits of diversity and enable them to understand and acknowledge differences between us all.
My passion is children; I love each and every one of them. I will always give my best to care and educate them to the best of my ability. Keeping them safe while allowing them to take risks in order to build skills and reach developmental milestones. I believe children learn best when they are left to explore and challenge themselves without too much interference from adults. Always keeping a safe distance while observing and facilitating further learning when needed.
I believe that each child is an individual, my role is to help and develop each child's strengths, interests, skills, abilities and knowledge and to extend their learning in the best way I can. I believe I can do this by keeping a strong and open dialog with each family that enters the Preschool service. Families play a huge role in helping us become a safe and nurturing place for each child and therefore creating a sense of belonging for everyone.
Through Belonging we create a space for each child to Be and Become!

My role is to support each child to reach their full potential by recognising their unique capabilities, interests and contributions to learning. I am looking forward to getting to know the children and Families at St. Andrews Community Preschool and establishing great partnerships.
